Vietnam’s waste collection and recycling industry has long struggled with outdated technology, high investment costs, and unstable markets for recycled products. Yet recent advancements signal a promising future.
A prime example is Duy Tan Plastic Recycling, which has invested hundreds of billions of VND into European technology capable of processing tens of thousands of tonnes of PET bottles annually. Their recycled products meet domestic standards and are exported to demanding markets such as the US and Europe.
By adopting advanced technology, companies can boost sorting efficiency, reduce processing costs, and improve the quality of recycled plastic pellets. Meanwhile, traceability and automation solutions are helping the industry align with international standards, opening opportunities to join global supply chains.
With supportive investment policies, transparent purchasing mechanisms, and greater consumer participation, Vietnam has the potential to become a regional recycling hub, making a significant contribution to the circular economy and environmental sustainability.
